PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The Best Electronics, Cupertino, California
July 2001 - October 2001

Test Engineer II

Responsibilities:

Development of test methods to be used by production technicians in testing wire harnesses using Cirris Systems automated testers. This work included identifying problems in the beta release of the Windows application of Cirris CTLynx for the COMPAQ computer. CTLynx is a windows PC application that communicates through a COM port of the PC to a controller in the Cirris Cable Tester. CTLynx is a library of commands that can be included within a compiled language for communication to the Cirris Cable Tester. These functions configure the Tester to perform Hypot or Continuity test profiles on a cable connected to the Tester.

Included in these responsibilities is selection of air and vacuum equipment to be used in testing semiconductor manufacturing equipment that uses compressed air and vacuum to control the manufacturing process.

AMEX DATA SYSTEMS, Oakland, California
1992 - 2001

Senior Test Engineer

Responsibilities:

NAS Development of Unix-based test harnesses for automated regression testing Black Box and White Box to interface to embedded computer 19mm Digital Tape Recorders using the Small Computer System Interface SCSI standard. The platforms used in this development were SUN WorkStations using the Solaris version of Unix. This test suite development was done in the c-shell which included writing programs using the Unix utilities Sed and AWK. The scope of this work included writing test scripts to verify system performance; the detection of failures, and the retrieval of system performance information at the time of failure for both the Tape Recorders and the Robot-controlled Library in which the tape recorders are installed. This work also included the development of test scripts in the Tcl scripting language, which were called from within the Unix c-shell test suite.

  • Worked in close coordination with system hardware and software designers in performance and failure analysis of detected problems.
  • Developed Unix test suite programs used in FCC certification testing of 19mm Digital Tape Recorders and Robot-controlled Library.
AMEX DATA SYSTEMS, Oakland, California
1990 - 1992

Senior Test Engineer

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility was to provide engineering support to 19mm Digital Tape Recorder system development. This included development of test hardware interface between PC driven software and the recorder. Included within this hardware was 1.7 mbytes of SRAM, and associated control circuits, to store test data patterns to record and play back through the recorder.

  • Checkout and integration of PC interface test hardware.
  • Perform Acceptance Test Procedure on deliverable 19mm DD2 Recorders.
  • Evaluation of 19mm Recorder Software and Hardware revisions using:
    • Test scripts for PC driven test interface.
    • Intelligent Peripheral Interface IPI-3 standard interface test equipment.
  • Design validation test development: Creation of system tests to verify correct performance of 19mm tape recorder under all valid tape format configurations, as well as, fault detection verification for invalid tape formats and file transfer activities that did not conform to the format specification.
  • Customer-site support of 19mm tape recorder during Host integration activities.
AMEX DATA SYSTEMS, Oakland, California
1987 - 1990

Test Engineer

Responsibilities:

Development support of wideband 107mhz Digital Tape Recorder program through development of test equipment, procedures, and documents. Participated in system integration within Engineering group, and Final System Test group.

  • User Interface Test Equipment: Design, develop, and document a versatile professional test interface which is an essential tool in evaluation and test of the recorder system.
  • Wrote initial power-up and check-out procedure for the digital tape recorder.
  • Provided documentation, test equipment, and special tools for system integration and testing.
AMEX DATA SYSTEMS, Oakland, California
1984 - 1987

Test Engineer

Responsibilities:

Development of test equipment for mass-storage digital tape recorder. Development of instrumentation panel for multiple output general-purpose laboratory power supplies.

  • Assist in wideband signal system experiments, which included maintenance of a baseline engineering evaluation tape recorder system test-bed and configuration of signal analysis test set-ups.
  • Technical support for mass-storage digital tape recorder Read/Write Hybrid Micro-circuit development, and associated test equipment. This activity included the development of a test fixture to evaluate the thermal characteristics of hybrid circuits during operation, using Pelter-effect thermoelectric modules to test the hybrids at the temperature extremes of -10 to +80 degrees C.
  • Development, in the Pascal language, of data channel analysis software for testing the signal processing system of digital tape recorders. Random and pattern-dependent errors were separately quantified.
Formal Training

Obtained formal training from Mission College, Santa Clara, Calif, Associate in Science Electronics ; Electronics School, Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis, Tenn., also completed courses in Pascal and C programming.
